So there is always this one guy who parks his Jeep right at the intersection/stop line by my house, this is obviously illegal and such you need to be 9 meters away from an intersection per city By-law. Now should I inform by law or just let it be and hope no one gets in a MVC with a pedestrian?

I don’t want to nark, but I don’t think a note would help much.

I’d say do nothing.

Where I live, everybody street parks and there is a significant lack of street parking in some places so they don’t really enforce it.

If it’s your neighbor, talk to them (I wouldn’t).

If it’s not, call it in (again, I wouldn’t).

Why wouldn’t I? You never know quite who you’re dealing with, or if you might live next to them for the indefinite future.

Personally I’d report it.

It’s illegal for a reason. Laws aren’t made because someone got bored (well some seem to be I guess).

Above all else, snitches get stitches.

If you want to enforce the laws, go to the police academy and become a cop.

What’s the actual code say?

Because here it’s 30 feet from the stopsign for the stop sign side of traffic, but it’s all the way up to the cross walk for the other side of traffic.

If it's in a spot where it's dangerous and likely to lead to an accident then I would report it. If it's not hurting anything then who cares.

I vote for note! Give the dude a chance at least.

Also, living on a corner with a stop sign... it really burns my biscuits seeing how much people ignore stop signs. As someone who always stops at them, it’s amazing how fast people will run ours CONSTANTLY.

That is what would be afraid of, some crazy nut job or something. He has been parking like that for a while, probably let someone else report it.

He’s not enforcing, he’s reporting. 911 wasn’t created for cops to call other cops.

We have a hydrant in our front yard, so there is basically no parking in front of our property.. The day after we moved in someone from across the street parked there; our new neighbour came over and rang our new doorbell to tell us that the car was parked illegally and would be towed..

Ever since they’ve got the side-eye - and I let our dog pee on their lawn during her walks.

I vote leave it unless it’s a problem.

I mean... if you’ve ever had a negative interaction with you neighbor, you’ll see how often it sets the tone for your entire relationship.

Parking disputes or mentioning ANYTHING about my property is a fast track to my shitlist.

That’s what I am leaning towards, like the developers put a shared drive way entrance near the intersection so there is enough room for only a couple cars before and after the entrance. kind of stupid.

9 meters (30') here too, but any intersection.

See! This is the kind of shit I mean. That would have chapped my hide as well. Hopefully when you told them it wasn’t your car, he shoved it. But frankly, if you were my neighbor, and you blocked a hydrant on your side, what do I care, let the firemen smash your windows if needed.

If it affects safety in a genuine way, then I’d report it. If the guy is being a d|(k, then I’d report it. If parking is tight and wouldn’t we all love to have our own personal parking place and scoff at the law, then I’d report it. Are your other neighbors clearly conscientious about parking according to the laws and ordinances? If yes, then I’d report it. Anyhow, there’s my $0.02.

the thing is the city is brain damaged (no offense to actual brain damaged people) and allowed developers to put the entrance to condo parking on the street. and only allows 2-3 cars before its illegal to park. It is a cash cow for the city, no idea why they are not just camping there every day.

If it’s not a safety hazard or causing a problem for anybody, then let it be.

As my uncle used to say about the town council where he lived: “If brains were dynamite, they couldn’t blow their noses.”
